How to Use this Site

Harvard Catalyst’s Writing and Communication Center is a comprehensive collection of tools, trainings, and resources that empower clinical/translational research team members at any stage of their careers to better articulate their science. Throughout this website, you can access self-guided learning modules, videos featuring leading experts, rubrics, templates and worksheets, links to courses, recommended reading, and more. All content is structured around and informed by our competency framework for scientific communication.

Utilizing our experience as well as input from faculty experts and professional educators/instructional designers, we created the Scientific Communication Competencies for the Research Team framework to describe the skills and knowledge that clinical and translational research teams need to communicate successfully. The framework is made up of 5 broad categories called competency domains:
·     Write Effectively
·      Get Funded
·      Deliver Authentically
·      Visualize Science
·      Grow Professionally

By exploring the competency framework and leveraging our resources across these domains, you can identify strengths and areas in need of growth and create your own curricular pathway. You can navigate the website in any order, at your own pace, and access materials whenever they are most relevant to you. Read the competency framework to learn more and get started.
